Through the Lenses: Modeling Competition A6 & Scores

For the sixth assignment we had to do a pretty nature shot, with soft shades.

Comments: So beautiful! I love the emotions that come out of this photo! This photo is so soft with just the right balanced amount of white and grey tones. The pose is high fashion but also gorgeous for being in nature. I love the subtle makeup choice as well. I also like how it looks like Analeigh is emerging from behind the bushes and vines as well. The only thing is, I which those leaves weren’t along her chin because I think they look a little awkward. The photo would still be beautiful and fitting in with the requirements had those leaves not been there. But nevertheless, beautiful photo!

For this assignment we had to do a uncommon wedding photo (i.e, no wedding isle photos, etc.) I had a lack of inspiration for this assignment so that shows in the results.

But I made it!

Comments: Beautiful and so creative! I absolutely love your idea and the set. The dress is beautiful as is the rest of her styling (I might have liked to see a little more in the makeup but that is okay). I love the soft grey tones as well, they are such a nice touch to this photo and idea. I think the set is beautifully done. I love Analeigh’s pose but I am not loving her hubbie’s pose. I do wish he had a little more of a sneaky pose—after all he snuck in on his wife when she was trying out her wedding dress! And the only other thing, is to be completely honest, I didn’t know she was looking at herself in a mirror until you said it. Maybe if you were looking at Analeigh from behind and into the mirror then it would look more obvious. But other than that, beautiful photo!

Through the Lenses: Modeling Competition A3 & 4 Scores

So this round we were assigned two assignments at once because Elastic (the host) had to leave for a vacation, I believe? Yeah.

The first assignment was to do like a geometric type photo with little to no grey shades and then the other was to choose a country and then display its fashion.

So here are my pictures and score!

Comments: Awesome! This photo definitely reminds me of a mime!!! I think the pose is very high fashion as is the makeup. The hairstyle is also very fitting with the assignment and the theme of high fashion. I like the clothes and all the patterns. The patterns all fit together and it doesn’t look too confusing—it’s actually hypnotizing in a good way! I realized though, that Analeigh’s thighs are cut in half. LOL she is missing the lower part of her thighs and it looks like she is just floating in the air without legs XD (BTW, this is on her right leg). Great job otherwise!

Comments: Wow! This is my favorite photo so far in the competition! You did a superb job with the set and the styling. I love how the photo looks so soft and welcoming. The windmill is excellent, the clothes are perfect, the tulips are beautifully placed/edited in (honestly I can’t’ even tell if the tulips are edited in). May I ask, where did you get the dress? Or did you edit it all together? I also love the hair and the little hat/bonnet Analeigh is wearing. To be completely honest, I don’t have any complaints XD

So ended up getting first place! Yay! And I did work pretty hard for this assignment, especially the world fashion one (phew, so much editing!) But yeah.

I’m sorry I’m so behind on posting these! Right now we are on the 7th assignment, haha, yeah. Plus school right now which I’ll post about later when I have the time.

Haphazard Cycle 4 – Finale Results

Ello everyone! This was the final assignment of Haphazard Cycle 4! Ahh! The assignment was to do a good vs. evil theme but we had to keep the comp theme in mind. This was a really difficult assignment. So here are the results.

I like your idea for this assignment but it wasn’t a highly creative way to show it. I know there is only so much you can do with the good/evil theme but I think it could have been shown differently. Your model is styled nicely and posed appropriately for what you’re trying to show. The backgrounds left a little to be desired but they are not bad. Overall, both photos look good but they didn’t wow me like many of your other photos.

So I got third place. A big drop from first place last assignment to last place this one. But I was expecting it. I am disappointed in myself for not trying hard enough. I just hit a big artist’s block for this assignment and it wasn’t in me to make a good photo.  Plus, my competitors were amazingly talented so it wasn’t easy at all.

Anyways, the important thing is that I had so much fun participating in this comp and that’s all that really matters. And the awesome siggy as well. 😉

Haphazard Cycle 4 – A5 & Scores

So this assignment was honestly my favorite and I did a pretty good job! :3

____________

In Greek mythology Echo was a wood nymph who loved a youth by the name of Narcissus. He was a beautiful creature loved by many but Narcissus loved no one. He enjoyed attention, praise and envy. In Narcissus’ eyes nobody matched him and as such he considered none were worthy of him.

Echo’s passion for Narcissus was equaled only by her passion for talking as she always had to have the last word. One day she enabled the escape of the goddess Hera’s adulterous husband by engaging Hera in conversation. On finding out Echo’s treachery Hera cursed Echo by removing her voice with the exception that she could only speak that which was spoken to her.

Echo often waited in the woods to see Narcissus hoping for a chance to be noticed. One day as she lingered in the bushes he heard her footsteps and called out “Who’s here?” Echo replied “Here!” Narcissus called again “Come”, Echo replied “Come!”. Narcissus called once more “Why do you shun me?… Let us join one another.” Echo was overjoyed that Narcissus had asked her to join him. She longed to tell him who she was and of all the love she had for him in her heart but she could not speak. She ran towards him and threw herself upon him.

Narcissus became angry “Hands off! I would rather die than you should have me!” and threw Echo to the ground. Echo left the woods a ruin, her heart broken. Ashamed she ran away to live in the mountains yearning for a love that would never be returned. The grief killed her. Her body became one with the mountain stone. All that remained was her voice which replied in kind when others spoke.

Narcissus continued to attract many nymphs all of whom he briefly entertained before scorning and refusing them. The gods grew tired of his behavior and cursed Narcissus. They wanted him to know what it felt like to love and never be loved. They made it so there was only one whom he would love, someone who was not real and could never love him back.

One day whilst out enjoying the sunshine Narcissus came upon a pool of water. As he gazed into it he caught a glimpse of what he thought was a beautiful water spirit. He did not recognize his own reflection and was immediately enamored  Narcissus bent down his head to kiss the vision. As he did so the reflection mimicked his actions. Taking this as a sign of reciprocation Narcissus reached into the pool to draw the water spirit to him. The water displaced and the vision was gone. He panicked, where had his love gone? When the water became calm the water spirit returned. “Why, beautiful being, do you shun me? Surely my face is not one to repel you. The nymphs love me, and you yourself look not indifferent upon me. When I stretch forth my arms you do the same; and you smile upon me and answer my beckoning with the like.” Again he reached out and again his love disappeared. Frightened to touch the water Narcissus lay still by the pool gazing in to the eyes of his vision.

He cried in frustration. As he did so Echo also cried. He did not move, he did not eat or drink, he only suffered. As he pined he became gaunt loosing his beauty. The nymphs that loved him pleaded with him to come away from the pool. As they did so Echo also pleaded with him. He was transfixed; he wanted to stay there forever. Narcissus like Echo died with grief. His body disappeared and where his body once lay a flower grew in it’s place. The nymphs mourned his death and as they mourned Echo also mourned.

Comment- I like your photo Dana, you have shown the mythological theme well throughout your photo. You could have been a little more creative with your photo but I think what you have done is great. Your models appearance is nice I love her hair <3. Your quality is good and your background works well with you photo. I think you overall appearance is great Dana.

I really love your photo, and being somewhat familiar with the myth, I knew just by looking at it which myth it was. Your model looks gorgeous and appropriately styled and I love how you have Narcissus in the background looking at his reflection in the water. The background looks awesome as well. The only thing I think would have improved the photo is if you could actually see Narcissus’ reflection in the water.

Another amazing photo Dana, I love it so much ❤ You have followed the theme well through out your photo. I think that you have also got really creative with your photo to, Masked murder…. I like it .Your models appearance is fab and I love her mask, And the fact she has a knife in her hand goes with the bad girl twist to the theme, although she looks a little to elegant for me. Your quality is good and your background goes well with the theme. Your overall appearance is great Dana, can’t wait to see more from you!

I really love how you approached this assignment. Both your model and background look incredible, and I like how I can get an idea of what the story is just by looking at the photo. Your model’s pose is mischievous looking and sexy at the same time. Your background looks amazing and the only little thing I didn’t like about it were the way the “flames” of the candles look. Some of them are see-through, and others just have a weird coloration to them. In terms of quality, it is great, only a small area of the hair is a little choppy looking (on the right side of her head, then again it could just be the way it looks against the background). Overall, I really loved this photo.

Haphazard Cycle 4 – A3 & Scores

So for this assignment we had to do dark makeup headshot. I actually did this assignment twice because when I read it I didn’t notice that it said it had to be a headshot; so I redid the whole idea and I actually got a really good score for it.

I love you photo Dana. I love the whole dark fantasy make up theme you have done. I think you have got very creative with you photo. Your models appearance is great and goes well with the whole dark/evil queen theme you have. I would of liked to see just a little more makeup, maybe darker purple. Your quality is good and your background goes well with your theme. Your overall appearance is great Dana!

I really like this photo. The dark colors of the background match that of the makeup and make the photo look dramatic. The quality of the photo is great, and your model looks phenomenal. The only thing I could think of to take of points in terms of editing is that there is a small area of the hair that has white from the background the model was cut from. Even with that, you can only really see it in the full-size version if you look really close. Great job!

I got second place for the photo which made me really happy because everyone in this comp is so talented. I also got plus two points for winning the Lurker’s Poll! :3 The next assignment which is being scored right now is masquerade. Well, have a great Thursday everyone!

Comments: I completely get where you were going with your assignment Sassy. The first two notes just reminded me of lord of the rings and the following bars sounded as though they represented a kingdom. The sounds following, linking to your assignment, made me see a journey, and therefore you have your horse etc. The melody was somber and I think that was perfectly represented in your assignment. Just very well done. The effect of your subtle details just added and created a whole story and atmosphere. For me, yours was definitely strongest in this category for this particular assignment. The wardrobe, pose and expression in your assignment were also spot on, though I did feel the lighting was lacking, or a bit confusing in some places due to there being a motif the whole way through, and no real dramatic lighting, which I feel would have been appropriate giving the night setting, flames and sadness. I adore your set design here, the castle is really nicely put together and the steep slope is perfect for hiding the horse and drawing more attention to the sadness of your Sim, though even the horse looks kind of sad. I have no idea how you did the infant unless it was edited in, but another perfect and subtle touch. It’s a bit harsh, but being as truthful as possible, I wasn’t all to keen on how you left the sky looking the same it does in game. The stars were really blurry, and I know in heat you may get that effect, but really it just took greatly away from the quality and was something a simple filter, overlay of a colour or even a real picture at low opacity over it. Just great though Sassy. I’m in love with it.

__________

So I got third (Rexy first, Nims second) which I’m really proud, of because it’s already hard enough to get to 4th but yeah. So I made it to the next round! Which is an assigned picture and here is mine:

‘Shop Me Shunning Set 12 :: Heated Romance

So I joined the next round of ‘Shop Me Shunning and I won the Non-Hair editing category . .again! 😮

Evie: This is gorgeous Sassy. I just wish it was bigger D:. I’d love to see the fine details of the grass skirt a bit larger, but that isn’t too much of a big deal. Props to you for actually taking the time to get your photo in game rather than just finding one on the web and slapping it on. Though, in this case, you might have even been able to get away with that because for the one fact that you put so much effort into their outfits. I love that the grass skirts look hand drawn (are they? They look fantastic), even the band on Vincent’s skirt is perfectly detailed, shaded, and highlighted. The small bits of face paint add so much to the general idea of the photo, even though it’s small, it gives more of that tribal feel. From the flower in Noelle’s hair to the grass anklets on Vincent’s feet, all of it has such amazing detail, and your effort is shining through your work here.

Rexy: Your entry was definitely my favorite for the Non-Hair Editing category, Dana! What sets you apart is that you took the time and care to add in a bunch of little details to Noelle and Vinnie, and to go in-game and take a gorgeous screenshot. Other competitors should really take note of your work! Even though this is a laid back competition, time and effort is still going to be what moves you into first place. Having said that, my only real criticism is the size of the image. Since you were given such gigantic screenshots to work with, I would’ve liked to see you have a larger final image overall. It would’ve really helped us see all that detail you added a little bit better. Even so, you’ve created a wonderful image here, paying attention to the smallest things, right down to the color of Noelle’s shoes. Nice work with that lens flare too. Congrats on first place!!

____________

YAAAAY! I joined the next round aswell which is themed “Swordplay.”

Yeah, that’s it! ^-^
